Synopsis

A young peasant, Janik, falls under Zefka’s spell and chooses to leave his family and village to follow her. Ivo van Hove turns Janáček’s song cycle into intimate music theatre, extended by new music from Annelies Van Parys that gives Zefka a voice and perspective of her own.
